AMEX Offer: Get 2X Membership Rewards Points on online spend
American Express has launched 2X Membership Rewards Points offer on Online Spends. To avail, this offer Cardmember will have to enroll the eligible Card for which the communication has been sent. Check your email ID if the said offer has been triggered for you. If triggered, enroll for it as below.
Here are all the details regarding the 2X Rewards offer:
• Offer valid for enrolment from 5 May to 31 May 2020 and spends from 1 May 2020 to 31 May 2020.
• Cardmember will be eligible for a maximum of 1000 Bonus Membership Rewards Points.
• Eligible Cards - American Express Platinum Reserve and American Express Platinum Travel Credit Card.
• Bonus Points will be credited by 31 August 2020.
• Eligible only if the cumulative monthly online spend is minimum Rs. 10,000.
Also note that transactions going through an aggregator (like Paypal, Paytm, PayU, etc.) may not trigger Membership Rewards points since it entirely depends upon how a merchant submits its transactions to American Express.
To reap the maximum benefit of the said offer, you will have to spend Rs 50,000 on your Card during the offer period. On spending Rs 50,000 on the Card, you get 50000 / 50 = 1000 Regular Points and 1000 Bonus Points. Total 2000 Points.
This offer didn't feel much appealing to me as during this economic turmoil due to COVID-19 lockdown, spending 50k in a month just for 1000 points doesn't seem worthy to me. However, if you have a spend that you need to do anyway, you can opt for it.
