It's like a trend, Banks are launching credit card for Millennials. In just a month, back to back 3, Major Banks have launched Credit Cards that carry the millennial term with it.
'What' or 'Who' are millennials, you ask?
- According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the term Millennials, sometimes also called 'Generation Y,' generally refers to the generation of people born between the early 1980s and 1990s. Some people also include children born in the early 2000s.
In first, HDFC Bank launched its Millennia range of cards in 4 unique variants to cater to different types of users — Millennia Credit Card, Millennia Easy EMI Card, Millennia Debit Card, and Millennia Prepaid Card. These cards are flooding with colossal cashback and smart buy options where a cardholder can avail instant discount and cashback as per the offer.

Axis Bank followed suit and focussing on the millennial generation, it launched a credit card in collaboration with Freecharge. The 'Axis Bank FreeCharge Credit Card' came into existence. However, unlike the HDFC Bankcard, which is available for online and offline purchases, Axis Bank FreeCharge Credit Card is only for online purchases. It's a virtual card.

Following the on-going trend, American Express, the world’s largest card issuer by purchase volume, has launched the SmartEarn Credit Card for India's millennials. The credit card's highlight is reward points on everyday transactions such as ride-sharing, movie booking, and other online purchases.
