HDFC IndianOil Credit Card - Detailed Review
Not taking lessons from the utter failure of Citibank IndianOil Credit Card; HDFC bank has just taken a free fall dive into the same bog with the launch of its new credit card, 'IndianOil HDFC Credit Card.'
I personally know quite a lot of people who ditched their Citibank IndianOil CC for other card variants just because of the twisted criteria it carried with it to reap the turbo points. Similarly, HDFC's new fuel credit card seems no different.
Here's all you need to know about IndianOil HDFC Credit Card:
Oh! Just remember we will refrain from using the word 'Reward Points,' instead, we will use the word 'Fuel Points' as HDFC couldn't board anything new except for coining this term.
- Capped at 250 FP per month for the first 6 months
- Capped at 150 FP per month post completion of 6 months
• 5% Fuel Points (FP) on grocery spends
- Capped at 100 FP per month
• 5% Fuel Points (FP) on bill payments
- Capped at 100 FP per month
• 1 Fuel Point for every Rs 150 spent on other purchases
• Fuel Surcharge Waiver
- 1% surcharge waiver when you buy fuel
- Capped at Rs 250 per billing cycle
- Valid on the transaction value of minimum Rs 400
In simple words:
- On spending Rs 4500 per month on fuel, that also on IndianOil pumps you can get 150 FP. Spends above Rs 4500 won't fetch any benefit.
- On spending Rs 3000 per month on groceries, you can get 100 FP. Spends above Rs 3000 won't fetch any benefit.
- On spending Rs 3000 per month on bill payments, you can get 100 FP. Spends above Rs 3000 won't fetch any benefit.
Not considering the 1 FP per Rs 150 spent on other purchases; you can get an aggregated 350 FP which is equal to 1050 XRP*. 1 XRP is worth 0.30 INR
Hence, 350 FP = Rs 315 only.
On spending a total of Rs 10500 (4500 + 3000 + 3000) you get back Rs 315.
- That's a reward rate of 3%
* The Fuel Points you collect can be redeemed as IndianOil XTRAREWARDS Points (XRP). You can redeem XRP for free fuel at over 20,000 participating IndianOil Petrol Pumps across India.
[1 FP = 3 XRP; 1 XRP = Rs. 0.30]
50 Litre Fuel?
Rs 315 x 12 Months = 3,780 INR
Taking Rs. 75.6 as fuel cost per litre, 3780 ÷ 75.6 = 50 Litres.
• Annual Fee
- Rs 500 + taxes
- Waived off on spending Rs 50,000 or more
Also, note that the HDFC IndianOil Credit Card will be issued at non-metro cities as of now and will be available on both RuPay & Visa platforms.
Well, that's all. Expect nothing more.
